3D Printed Magnetic Stirrer

This was a fun one. I wanted to get back into electroplating and needed a magnetic stirrer. I used to use a PC fan with a magnet glued onto it, but I have some better tools at my disposal these days and figured I would give designing one a go.

This is, by a large margin, the most complex design I’ve made to date. While that’s not saying a lot, I usually use CAD to design mounts and project boxes, so creating something that used moving parts was new.

As far as electronics go, I used an ESC and outrunner motor off of my old drone, aptly name Hairy. To get the motor speed down to something usable, I made a couple of double-helix gears in Fusion and made some test prints.
